Who We Are

At Mission Fed Credit Union, we believe in people helping people—and that includes protecting what matters most to our members. For over 60 years, we’ve built trusted relationships by putting security, integrity, and community first.

As we continue to innovate and grow, our Information Security team plays a critical role in safeguarding our members, our systems, and our future.

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and analytical Information Security Analyst who’s passionate about staying ahead of evolving cyber threats. In this role, you’ll help strengthen our security posture by monitoring systems, investigating risks, and collaborating across teams to implement effective, business-friendly security solutions.

This is an opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact initiatives while continuing to grow your security expertise in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor security systems (SIEM, endpoints, IAM, cloud, email) to detect and respond to suspicious activity
  • Investigate security events, create custom alerts, and escalate threats when needed
  • Conduct risk assessments and threat modeling to support business initiatives
  • Support incident response efforts—including triage, remediation, and documentation
  • Perform security testing across systems, networks, and applications
  • Manage and prioritize vulnerability remediation in partnership with system owners
  • Help enforce least privilege access and sound identity management practices
  • Enhance security awareness through social engineering and training programs
  • Collaborate with IT teams to maintain secure systems and asset inventories
  • Contribute to audits, regulatory exams, and compliance efforts
  • Provide security input on projects and change management initiatives
  • Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices
  • Recommend security improvements that balance risk reduction with business innovation

What You Bring

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of information security experience (or a combination of IT and security)
  • Current industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, GIAC, ISACA, Microsoft)

Preferred:

  • Experience with penetration testing or red team tools
  • Background in incident response, system monitoring, and risk assessments

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • You’re naturally curious and stay ahead of emerging cyber threats
  • You think analytically and solve complex problems with confidence
  • You communicate technical risks clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • You’re collaborative, proactive, and take ownership from start to finish
  • You balance strong security practices with enabling business innovation

Technical Expertise

  • Understanding of networking and security frameworks (OSI, OWASP, MITRE ATT&CK)
  • Experience securing cloud and on-prem environments
  • Familiarity with NIST CSF, PCI-DSS, CIS, and FFIEC frameworks
  • Knowledge of SDLC and secure development practices
  • Exposure to Agile environments and tools like Azure DevOps is a plus

What we offer:

  • One of San Diego and the nation's Top Workplaces three years running!
  • Great team and company culture!
  • You can’t beat a role in sunny San Diego!
  • 18 days of PTO in your first year plus 12 holidays a year!
  • 6% - 8% 401(k) match
  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc.

If this sounds like an amazing opportunity to you (because ya, it is!), we want to hear from you!
